Conspire Requirements Specification/Wholist

The wholist displays users online. Three formats are available: long, short and friends only (long format).

Long format
The long format wholist is normally displayed with most recently logged-in users first, but this is reversible through the Conspire Requirements Specification/Config menu.
The sysops can configure 3 ways of displaying the 'From' field: full hostname, chopped hostname, or city/state. See Conspire Requirements Specification/Config menu/System.
Users are flagged with a '*' character when X-disabled and a '%' character when they are a guide who is available for questions. The '#' character is reserved for users who cannot receive Xes at all (for example, from a web client) and '@' for sysops and programmers.
The User Name field accommodates usernames up to 19 characters, the maximum allowed.
The From field accomodates up to 22 characters, or 23 in chopped hostname and geographic modes due to the relative rarity of the field being full.
The Time field normally accomodates 5 characters in format collapsed HH:MM. This format is used for logins of up to 99 hours and 59 minutes. After 100 hours, the format changes to collapsed DD:HH:MM and the Doing field is pushed 2 characters to the right (and truncated smaller). User sessions may persist for longer than 99 days, 23 hours and 59 minutes; however, the Time field will at that point diplay 'forever ' (note the trailing space) (an easter egg for those who manage to exceed 100 days online).
The Doing field displays the text entered by the user for their Doing field. If there is no text, 'Message system' is displayed when the user is unidle. A whitespace-only Doing field is allowable for true blanking. When the user is idle for more than 5 minutes, their time idle is displayed regardless of the contents of their Doing field.

Chopped hostname
Enough of the hostname or IP is chopped to prevent revelation of the user's exact IP and to allow the truncated name to fit within the From column. If the user has a hostname like domain.com which resolves to an IP, the numeric IP is used instead. If the user's top-level domain name is too long to fit into the From field, the numeric IP is used instead.
Numeric IPs have the last octet truncated. Hostnames have at least the leftmost chunk truncated.

Geographic location
If the user has entered a city and state in their profile, and has not selected to hide it, this information is displayed in the wholist, truncated to the length of the From column.

Short format
This format displays the users in a horizontal four column format with 20 characters per column. Users are sorted by login time, with freshest logins upper-left and oldest logins lower-right (display goes left to right, top to bottom).
The first character is the user's flag (*, %, # or @) or a space character if there is no flag. The other 19 characters are the user name. Collisions between users with nineteen letter names and users with flags are possible. This is accepted.

The sort order is based on login time in the same order as the user has configured for the long format list.
Friends only
This is the same as the long format list, but only displays the user's friends as specified in Conspire Requirements Specification/Config menu/Friends list.
